The hands are fine. They look black because of the lighting. And I have seen tons of gens with gaps at the lugs as well. Not to mention QC to the Chinese has nothing to do with that kind of stuff. They just check to see if it is running for the most part.

If the link construction is the same yes it will fit. The screws may point in the opposite direction but that isn't a biggie.

All mechanical movements - whether reps, gens, simple or complicated - require regular servicing.

Freddy is right. A mechanical movement is a mechanical movement. But when it is a rep it never was at all. So it should be done as soon as you recieve it if you are planning to keep it for any length of time.

You should lube, check and if necessary replace the gaskets once a year as you would a gen.
