That is the reason why. Rep forum sales aren't even a blip on the radar. For every watch sold here there are 10,000 sold to tourists. That is where the money is. And they don't know or care what a 1675 or a Primero is. All they want to do is impress their buddies and the Sub they just saw at the AD is what they want.

The reason the rap manufacturers don't do vintage is because they make what what sells. Vintage doesn't. The whole reason people in the real world buy reps is to pass them off as gen. And though no one will admit it, most on the forums do as well. And you can't do that if no one knows what the heck they're looking at. So the current designs are what they want.

I broke it into five stages. The 5 Stages of Rep Addiction 1. Obsession 2. Disappointment 3. Education 4. Appreciation 5. Boredom It's that way for everyone. You get excited and ultimately obsessed with the hobby. Then disappointed once you hit a couple of landmines and realize there is no 'perfect Sub'. Finally you settle down, get some education (which never ends) and really start to understand the hobby. You begin to appreciate replicas as the fine works of art they are. You have owned two or three versons of that SS sub you fixated on for years and your purchases encompass a broader range of brands and styles. But eventually you see most everything and ultimately get bored. The cycle repeats itself in a slightly different order for each person, but you never leave. The hobby owns your ass. It's like the Godfather and everytime you think you're out, a slew of new models come out and it pulls you back in.

Well it doesn't want to stay signed on and it's loading real slow. I don't see a scroll button on the chat box anymore. But the message box is fixed thank god. It was terrible not being able to see what I was typing.

They will look both silly and dated. I look at some of the old models now regardless of size and say WTF were they thinking? But at that time it was considered cool looking. Rolex doesn't count of course. They are not timeless as much as they are changeless for the most part.

Thanks to a friend I got to spend about 12 hours testing this. There is nothing I can see that warrants a $100 price tag much less several hundred.
