I have recently fairly rapidly been adding to my collection of (mainly) reps and homage type watches. I have bought some nice examples of several makes from Silix, Military Time and Perfect Clones, all of which I can recommend. I now want a good U-Boat rep, preferably of the 'Left-Hook' type. However, it seems that most gen U-Boat Left-Hooks on sale today are quartz movement types. I distinctly don't want any more quartz types as my perhaps twisted logic tells me that if I have several watches that I wear on different occasions, the automatic types fit the bill better as they are mostly stored in my watch box and are not operating and wearing out when they are not being worn. So the question I have is this. If I buy a replica automatic Left-Hook from (say) Silix, will it it be a copy of a genuine watch, available either today or in the past? Any help will be appreciated. BTW, reps are getting better and better IMHO, especially some of the less expensive ones. Ciao. Clive.

So, tonight I was just picking through a long list of e-mails from those 'Deal of the Day' watch sites that I signed up for years ago when I was still collecting mostly mid-price Genuine watches (and have been forgetting to opt out from for a long while, hence the large list ). Anyways, I came across one site that is having a sale on their stock of Swiss Legend watches, which for the most part I had never paid any attention to, save for a few glances. Well tonight one in particular caught my attention, and it dawned on me just how much of a mutt this design really is, and how little original design goes into some of these watches... So, which watch is it you ask? This would be the almighty Trimix >>> (Image borrowed from Google Images) Now, when I had seen this model in the past, I immediately saw the Octagonal bezel and dial and thought AP RO Offshore chrono rip-off (with obvious quartz chrono dial layout), and proceeded to click delete, and slunk off to gaze at the next watch. However, the more that I really looked at the watch tonight, the more design elements started to pop out at me. The name 'Trimix' could not have been a complete oversight, could it? The elements that make this watch really DO make it a mix of three very recognizable design houses from the mid to top tier of Swiss watch brands >> The bezel design from AP, the main case body, hour and minute hands design from Hublot, and the screw down crown cap and pushers from U-Boat! Though I know that all of us 'seasoned' veterans of the watch world have always been aware that these cheaper 'original' brands rip off other more expensive designs, I was just surprised to see how far they are willing to go. Starting to think that if these brands (SL, Invicta, Stuhrling original) had not started as early as they had (I know Invicta started as it's own legit company back in the 1800's), they may have found some decent success as rep factories, lol. Oh well, guess Swiss Legend is just able to label themselves that way by copying other actual Swiss Legends, eh?

Hi There, I'm a little disappointed with my first rep. It is a U-Boat U-42 from TrustyTime. It runs the Asian 6497 manual hand-wind and it doesn't keep the correct time. I didn't measure precisely, but I see it losing about 10 minutes per hour. It also stops sometimes, and can be restarted with a jiggle. Is this a really bad sign? It's straight out of the box, never dropped. I've read a lot of posts about the necessity of a quality servicing so it looks like I will have to find a reputable person willing to service a fake. Thanks for any input.

Hey, I just bought my first rep and love it. My girlfriend hates it. The only problem is that I have trouble operating the mouse with 2 kilos attached to my wrist. Cheers!

Hey! For the past ten years I have worn my Swiss Army Officer's watch every single day. However, when the battery died over a year ago, I removed it and have worn nothing on my wrist since. (Besides my Garmin Forerunner 410 for training.) I find the habit of checking my cell phone for the time, really annoying. I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
