Here's her list of questions. Any help would be appreciated. -inexpensive -about 250-300 minutes a month (roll over minutes if possible) -free calls in Ireland to Ireland (It would be great if it could also cover more of Europe) -strong signal in most areas -low cost for international calls (I won't make many due to all the easy internet options, but less than $.99 a min would be great for when I'm not by a computer and have to make a call!) -unlimited texting Do they use sim cards there? If so, can I have the sim card shipped to me here so once I get over there I can just put it in my current phone and have it working when I get off the plane? Do I need a whole new phone? Is it possible to have whatever I need (phone, sim card, etc.) shipped to me here so that I have it with me and in working order when I get off the plane in Ireland? Im in Olympia Anyways, you can do it by purchasing a prepaid sim card IN Ireland and using an unlocked phone or getting your GSM phone unlocked by your USA carrier and tell them youre traveling. So, you can get your phone unlocked by AT&T and then just buy a prepaid Sim card in Ireland put it in your phone and you're good to go? Will the phone work calling to the US as well? nikki6 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Share Posted July 23, 2009 The phone will work pretty much anywhere, but it really depends on the carrier. Anywhere outside of Ireland will be International. If she wants the roll over minutes and texts, then she needs to buy into a contract like you guys would over there. Try going to Orange.co.uk or O2.co.uk .They are 2 of the biggest carriers in the UK and wil have Irish counterparts, she can get a rough idea that way of what it's likely to cost her. Most people are familiar with Skype phones via pc (free calls, or as good as free) ; but now Skype also offers mobile phone contracts at very very low prices.
