Noob question Pam 001

price

Recommended Posts

I bought a Pam 001 a few years ago and it is now giving me problems. It runs fast. I have sent it to a repairman 3 times.

I would like to buy a new movement to see if that will resolve the problem. Which movement do I need and where can I find one?

I am in Europe.

Your PAM001 should have a solid caseback so the actual appearance of the movement shouldn't be a critical issue. Therefore your best option will be to buy a standard (undecorated) Swiss ETA 6497-1 from a watch material house, such as Cousins in UK. The genuine PAM001 used the ETA 6497-2, which is the higher frequency version of the same movement, and simply had it decorated to give a higher standard of finish, but the genuine ETA 6497-1 will give a lifetime's service if looked after properly.

Hi PAMman, any idea where to get the 6497-2? From what i gather, it is now only produced for special brands like Panerai? I've tried looking at Ofrei and Cousins, but no dice for 6497-2.
