Manual Winding Problems With A New 7750

Feels like the gears are missing when I use a standard motion to wind the watch manually. Out of a full rotation of the crown, it feels like only about half of the turn is engaged in winding. If I apply a slight outward from the case pressure on the crown and stem when I wind it, it engages fully but I have to do it very slowly in order to keep the gears engaged. Service call in my furure or is there something I can do. The full repetoire of my internal watch adjustment skills consist of bumping a regulator arm + or -.
