Selling A Watch In The Uk

I just wondered if anybody has had experience with selling a (gen) watch in the UK? I just bought a watch off of eBay from a trusted seller I've used before - due to his poor listing, it sold for £220 (the retail on it is £7,500+) - I'll post more details when it arrives.

The thing is, I really don't like the watch - I bought it because the strap alone is worth more than I paid! Avoiding eBay, are there any places I can sell this in the UK (preferably a walk-in store) - I had a look at www.watches.co.uk and am very wary of them at the moment, although a part-ex for a gen Panerai would be very nice! It's an obscure brand, so a high street watch specialist may not be interested. Any ideas?

It's an Ikepod Dual Time diamond edition. I think it's limited to 99 models, steel case w/diamond bezel, black face, rubber (vanilla scented!) strap, ETA 2892/A2 movement. I'm having difficulty getting the original rrp, I've contacted Ikepod who can confirm it's original - but can't give me an idea of price. The standard Dual Time went for between $5 - 7,000 and the diamond bezel was an extra $3,000 on some of the other models. I like Ikepods, but I don't like the 'bling' diamond bezel - this was bought as more of an investment (like climbing the property ladder!!)

I'd rather not put it back on ebay - I've dealt with the seller in the past, and don't want to put it straight back up for sale and cause offense! Plus, it'll be at the top of my feedback so any buyers will know what I got it for. I'm interested by Watches.co.uk and can drive to their office easily enough - the site looks slightly suspicious though. A trade would be preferable to selling, as I don't think there'll be much demand for a watch with diamonds on it, but I may be wrong!

Watches.co.uk are a legit site and the advertise in a lot of magazines etc - I doubt you will get a very good price from them though.

I won't upload hundreds of photos because I'm sure nobody will like the watch - it's a bit OTT. It's also a bit of a weiner at only 40mm, and the diamonds really don't do it for me. However, it is genuine with a ETA 2892-A2 based movement and a rather overwhelming smell of vanilla. I didn't realise just how effective a heavy AR coating is, on my wrist, it looks as though the glass has fallen out!!

Ugly calender sub dial

All teamed with a rubber dive strap. (Why?)

One has to ask if the designer was on (poor quality) drugs.

But you did pay a fair price.

You could part it out... the movement should fetch a few dollers. the diamonds must be worth a bit... and who knows what you might get for the tasty strap?

Best of all... if you threaten to part it out on TZ... the numbskulls will probably offer you top dollar, just to keep it in one piece.

Easy to see why it was a limited edition, though...

Agreed, it's a dog! The sad thing is, it was designed by Marc Newson - one of the most influencial product designers of the last decade. I guess you win some, you lose some. Probably not bad suggestions on splitting it - the strap's easily worth £120, the movement is unusual but should make £200+, no idea about the diamonds - judging by the build quality of these things, there'll be a few disgruntled owners looking to replace their bezels (I've heard the diamonds, pushers and even crowns have a tendancy to fall off!). Ho hum.
