I haven't had a chance to play with one, but I don't have any speedlight style lighting either - I have my modded ABR800 with a QR setup attached to it.

That's pretty slick! How do you like the ABR800?

It took a while to get used to how to hold the setup, but it's quite balanced with a D3 and an 80-200mm f/2.8 on it.

I used an ABR800 for this set on the lowest setting.I was around six feet away from the background and subject. Works great and much more power than an Orbis. If you want the effect, spend another couple hundred bucks and get the ABR800. I bought it, took about 10 pictures with it and put it away in a closet. Still there for another series I've got in mind, just have to make time to get out and shoot them. This light finishes up an awesome 5-light setup I've been kicking around in my head for some time...

Overlook the quality of this picture- it's a heavily reduced jpg that was resized for display on the web. Quality looks bad,but you can get an idea of the light.

What is that Cullman adapter you are using to hold the AB800?

That's on the top and on the bottom is a large plate (90mm long) that can attach to my tripod. The pieces are connected with a threaded rod.
