the_rymeister
Hi guys and girls firstly i cant figure out how to change title of topic as missed m out of cosmic!!!!! After speaking to my dad about my new obsession with watches he dug out his old seamaster and dropped it round tonight. he said in previous conversations that it was his most worn and favoured watch, but doesn't wear it any more as the strap the strap broke years ago and never got round to fixing it. now he no longer can find the strap!!!!! Details on the watch: on the rear as you can see it has the numbers 166022-tool 105. i'm guessing that the tool number to remove the crystal is tool number 105? i'm only guessing and please correct me if i am wrong but i can't see any way of getting to the movement through the case back. and on the front it has your usual omega logo with automatic underneath. and model name seamaster cosmic on lower of dial. I don't know much about the watch to be honest apart from i had a brief look on the internet and found a little info saying it was dated mid sixties i need to do a bit more research tonight. I haven't got the strap unfortunatly and cant find many pictures to identify the correct strap. i would like to try get original strap but if not i will get a black leather strap made up at toshi straps. The lug width is 19mm so a 18mm strap would fit the watch comfortably. my plans are to find a bit of information on it...... if anyone knows please feel free to comment, also i'm going to get the case and crystal polished or replaced if i can sauce one in good nick. as you can see in one of the pics looks like a small crack. it winds up ok and has been running for over an hour already so its looking promising. my idea it to try get it back up together and give it back to my dad as a surprise christmas present. one thing i did notice is it correct that when you put the crown wheel out the first click is the wind the watch, second is the set time and when you get to third click it automatically jumps a day on the date wheel, and the only way i can change day again is to push crown wheel back in and pull out again?so any help would be much appreciated. Here's a few pictures............ Edited November 3, 2011 by The_Rymeister
Utheman
Wow, that is pretty cosmic! Sorry I can't help you out, but I really like the old vintage watches like that. What do you suppose happened to the underside of the sides, general corrosion, or some type of inlay that has fallen out...? Anyway, pretty cool thing to do for your dad. Good luck and thanks for sharing.
