Aftermarket croc or hornback for Big Pilot...AP Bands, other strap makers?

I just purchased a franken 5002 and am looking to add a gator / croc strap for my rotation. I'd prefer the black gen IWC band in the short version but was also thinking about having a custom one made.

I have always liked hornback croc and AP bands offers one...just not sure how this combo works with the BP and rivets. There is also the gen option but $350-375 for a new shorty strap.

I don't really like HK Tan's rivets (they look domed...).

I've ordered a strap from Peter @ Watch Accessories for another watch of mine. He can do a custom length one like gen for $170. I suppose I'll wait until I get the one I already ordered to see how his quality is (though I've heard great reviews).

I'm open to suggestions but not keen on the uber thick straps from some of the watchmakers that are more familiar with Panerai style strap making.
