Can A 183 Be Made Waterproof?

Has anyone tested to see how water resistant and serviced 183 is? I noticed that there is an opening around the crown tube and didnt know if this did not allow for a water tight seal.

that does not matter - take out the movt and stick it in a glass of water - it'll be fine so long as the caseback is not loose which they are sometimes.
