Crown markings

As an avid Omega/Breitling fan I know very little about Rolexes but I have a query that is bugging me.  I have noticed that the Rolex "crown" on the crown of some models has a solid line under it while some have three dots.  I have recently bought a brand new gen Tudor Prince Date (made by Rolex) which has the Tudor "shield" on the crown and this also has three dots under it.

Is there any significance between those watches marked with the crown underlined with dots or a solid line?

Thanks in anticipation of a flood of repsonses ! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Generally refers to the sealing system on the case tube.

underline is a twinlock - 2 seal points and 3 x dots is a triplock - 3 seal points. Triplock is generally on the larger 7mm crown series realting to sports watches and divers.

This thread will give you an insight into the triplock crown family

If you google twinlock and or triplock rolex crown you will find all you need.

Hope that gets you started.
