correctime Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 I picked this up from member chrgod and I like it. I've always liked the 1655's with the exception of the tall T116 plexi. Well, the crystal felt loose to me when it arrived and I cracked it trying to reset it. No biggie....I'll just drop a gen 295-C in it..........NOPE. DW is in eta position...so I pulled the cyclop from a 2mm TW crystal and centered a gen cyclop. It'll do for now but no doubt this watch looks it's best with the 116. My thoughts.... sapphire 116 conversion ( I'm afraid I wear my watches too "hard" for a plastic crystal) correct DWO with open 6/9's better fitting (and correct) end pieces maybe a SL job to the dial/hands. Your thoughts....?
watchguyusa1 Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 here is a kit for conversion on the bay , interested on how it would look on 1655 http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAPPHIRE-WATCH-CRYSTAL-FOR-ROLEX-GMT-1675-16750-16753-25-116-/310479761593?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item484a0930b9
correctime Posted April 7, 2013 Author Report Posted April 7, 2013 Thanks for the info Brother. Still undecided. The gen T116's aren't real expensive. I just don't know if this case will accept a gen plexi. The gen 2.7mm gasket on this sapphire fit the case groove nicely. I actually felt the bezel grab the gasket a bit when pressing it on. But as easily and quickly as I destroyed the 116 plexi that was on it, I'd be pist to do the same to a gen. And I don't know if this version is acurrate enough to be dropping alot of fundage into..

Don't worry about the gen. The quality is much better than anything you will find on a rep or even aftermarket. Wso on eBay sells a cheap aftermarket 116 but they are not very durable. Get one of the cheap ones to test the fit and if the case fits the gen spec crystal then get one of the sapphire ones from them.
correctime Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Posted April 8, 2013 Thanks for all the input. So it's certain that the WSO T116 is a gen spec crystal in regards to dimensions ?? If I'm going to take a "test drive" for proper fit, Gary has them on ebay for like 7.00 I think. Is the Clark 116 gen spec in dimensions too....can anyone confirm that. Thanks guys.
phelps22 Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 I have a Clark's but I didn't think the fit was all that great. The wso fit much better than the Clark's if that helps. Pm me and I will send the Clark's to you if you want it.
