M0nty Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 I have been looking at gens for a long time now. I have never owned an a watch of substance. I have mostly had Citizen and Seiko divers over the years. I have loved there reliability and modest looks. I have always wanted something like and Oris divers but the cost is beyond what I am willing to pay. So in come the reps..... I have done some research on the Oris Carlos Coste replica and have been looking at it at Trusty Time, Pure Time and King Watch. Some of the concerns I have are from posts from a while ago talking about issues with the Crown threads being too short, and second Sunday in date field. I wanted to know a couple of things. 1) Does anyone have a recent version of this watch from one of the dealers listed on the site? Can you provide some information on it? 2) Is the Crown thread still an issue? If this does become a problem in the future what are the warranties associated with vendors? Are there any? 3) Are the Quartz versions more accurate as far as time keeping is concerned than the automatic. I have read that its could be as much as 25 sec fast a day? Any idea what the Quartz would be like? 4) The Quartz does show 10M for water resistance while the Automatic shows 50M. Why is this? 5) Do all dealers provide a QC report before they send? Any other advice or help you can pass along would be much appreciated. Thanks
stolikat Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 One thing to be aware of is it will not be waterproof. Chrono reps as a rule never are. I was told by Angus at puretime that it wasn't a well made Rep but that was two years ago. Then there is the issue that the Rep is stainless and the Gen is titanium.
M0nty Posted May 10, 2013 Author Report Posted May 10, 2013 I will send something out to Angus at puretime and see what he says. The fact that the watch isn't Titanium isn't a big deal to me. Its a replica so you won't be getting all the bells and whistles. As far as the waterproofing where could I bring it should I decide that I need that done. Is there members that do that on this site? Not too sure if bringing a rep to a local shop is a good idea.
