minuterepeater
Help - anybody have any good ideas. I bought the "best quality" 33 mm Chanel j12 from one of our TD's. The crown is far too big for the model - very unsightly. I bought a new crown from a part's dealer in HK, and the tube is too big. The first pic is what I got. The second is what it's supposed to look like. Sorry about the disparity in the picture sizes!
minuterepeater
Can anybody think of a solution? I've contacted the TD but no response yet. Two watchsmiths my area said it was not possible to change the tube, as it appears to be inseparable from the quartz movement.

fraggle42
Put the big crown on lathe, turn it down, refinish, rechrome or repolish. You will need the gen crown to get the dimensions from. And doings that will not be cheap. Or you could measure the diameter of the tube and the thread pitch (is it a screw down crown?) and then look on Ofrei or Cousins for a suitable crown that will fit. minuterepeater
Thanks Fraggle - wonder if there's a CONUS watchsmith who can assist with this. Nobody around me (southern cal) is helpful at all, and I would have no idea how to take the measurements or locate a suitable replacement crown. minuterepeater
Can anyone recommend a CONUS watchsmith who can help me with this?
fraggle42
Sorry mate, I'm in the EU so not up on the CONUS guys. Someone should be able to chip in with a name or two. I do believe a similar question was asked on another thread and the answer was given and also the fact that that particular modded was active on RWI and not here, so you may have better luck asking over there.
