436NR Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 So I decided to clean up and refresh my PAM 382 after all the ammonia fuming, LoS, and polishing. I removed the bezel in the hopes of removing the raised markers and rebrushing it. Unlike others have posted, my bezel did not have screws holding in the markers. Instead, they are fixed. Nonetheless, I went ahead and rebrushed the bezel and repainted the index markers. I rebrushed the entire case and cleaned the heavy patina from under the bezel. To rebrush, I first used a 400 grit paper, followed by 600 grit to soften it a bit. I replaced the bezel, which btw was a real B!tch! Replaced the crown guard screws with gens. Now here's the interesting part; I washed the watch with warm water, dish soap, and scrubbed with a soft toothbrush. I noticed immediately that the bronze had more of a coppery, reddish hue. Before washing it, it was the usual bright bronze/brassy color. I lightly polished all surfaces with a cloth. Twenty four hours later, this is what it looks like... I'm not sure what did this. I'm thinking that the dish soap may have something similar that LoS has. I read somewhere that Palmolive dish soap has some sulfur in it. I'm not sure what kind the wife buys. She places it in a dispenser, so I couldn't tell. I like the look, although very unexpected!
