gmtlover
So, I've purchased an apple watch. But I want to do something special with it. My idea is to make a carbon case to replace the original SS case Who here on the forum would be able to make one? And what would it cost? aflop
I think before you embark on that first find out if you can remove the original case? I have heard it can't be torn apart without destroying the components

xpletiv
If that was the case, how would they service it? Just throw out a several hundred $$$ piece? Wouldn't look good towards consumers, I feel.

That's actually Apple's preferred MO, they love sticking it to their loyal customers that blindly support the practice.
fraggle42
Looking at the numerous minute screw holes, mounting points and specially formed inside of the case to hold all the bits and pieces https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Apple+Watch+Teardown/40655 I really don't see how anyone could replicate it without the new case costing more than the watch itself. Of course if money is no object I'm sure there's people out there who'll try to make one for you, but in CF I'm guessing there will be quite a few aborted attempts before they find out how to make one.
