How to modify a daytona dial

Hello

I've recently acquired a Daytona dial for 7750 but the sub dials are a bit shiny for my taste. How can I modify them to look a little less shiny?

Can I use coffee?

Coffee, they are polished metal. The only trick I know people use coffee or tea for is to add patina on lumes.

I was thinking maybe I could get the sub dials to be a little brown....like this

The Cali dial shown has lume on it, so u can stain it. The daytona dial is polished steel so I'm not sure how you can stain steel with coffee.

I had a similar situation with my dial, had those same shinny silver subdials, I used a matte varnish spray paint. Coated the whole dial with two light layers of the varnish them once that was dry I then tried that coffee stain trick strictly on the subdials, I also replaced the coronet with a gen coronet. It's not perfect but I am certainly happy with the dial compared to how it looked when I first purchased it

I wonder if you could try powdered graphite, careful application with a qtip or swab? It's available at most hobby shops as powdered graphite is actually a lubricant.

I believe I grabbed them off of the bay for like 30 a piece
