finisterre Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 I know Fossil etc make look-a-likes, but does anybody do any true reps? Thanks.
richard_uk Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Nope, and even if they replicated the case etc they couldn't possibly do the module as the old technology is dead and gone, but if you shop around on eBay you can get an original for the price of a decent rep anyway.
tag Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Here you are: Pulsar LED replicas ! http://led-watch.com/space.htm I've bought one and it's really good. Here is a short review of this product: http://www.wristwatchreview.com/2005/09/25...pace-led-watch/ Here is another type of LED (not a Pulsar look-alike though): http://ledwatchstop.com/store/index.php And Fossil's: http://www.fossil.com/jump.jsp?itemType=PR...mp;itemID=25164 cheers!
richard_uk Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I know Fossil etc make look-a-likes, but does anybody do any true reps? Thanks. IMO the space ones come under the Fossil etc look-a-likes that's why I didn't bother to mention them, what you have there is not a replica, the buttons are wrong, the functions are different, the display is totally different, the clasp is different, and it doesn't even say Pulsar on the face, as a rep it's not even canal st quality, sorry if I'm going off on one here, I'm a Pulsar collector and am quite passionate about the brand (the original brand not the Seiko stuff).
archibald Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 Apparently, like most reps, this one isn't quite 1:1... "Josh Says: August 31st, 2006 at 11:43 am I purchased one of these replicas and was very disappointed. I once owned one from the 70s and this one is no way close to the original. I am surprised the company who made them hasn’t done something about this. Those old ones were so well built, not something I can say about this one . . . . Sorry."
richard_uk Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 Simon, the guy who makes this one and others, never intended this to be a Pulsar replica, just an LED remake in the spirit of the 70's design, he wont even admit that he made it look like a Pulsar PIII, which he obviously did to cash in on their popularity, but it was definately never meant as a replica.
richard_uk Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 @tag... out of interest which model were you pointing to on ledwatchstop? the link you posted goes straight to the home page, I know one of the owners of that site quite well, and I also know the designer of the main 70's style one (Majestyk) I almost bought into that one right at the start but lets just say things didn't work out oh and actually there is kinda one Pulsar rep! the NOS Pulsar Sport model on there isn't quite NOS, the module is original but the rest of the watch was manufactured a couple of years ago, I also know the guy that did that one.
