vaccum Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Just wanted to share this pics of a 5517 with the modified crown guards Lets see how it came from the dealer... Now after some work...I guess it looks better Note the gen Crown and aftermarket CT Thanks for looking!!
Falco Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Nice CG work Vaccum . The bezel on those trusty (I assume) 1:1 reps are horribly rough though, that's why I after a lot of work finishing the bezel just decided to replace it with an aftermarket one including a crystal retaining ring (hated the spring thingy concept)

Can you share where you got the bezel and ring
vaccum Posted March 28, 2007 Author Report Posted March 28, 2007 Updated project.....now with Gen vintage pearl!!
vaccum Posted March 28, 2007 Author Report Posted March 28, 2007 Excellent! Now then... remember this is a 40-50 years old watch. Try a buffing wheel on the bezel to smooth it, as if it's been lovingly turned and used for decades. See if you can polish between the "teeth" a little. It makes ALL the difference. Here's a bezel that's been well used, but not ABused: Well done! Thanks for the advise!! I will do it. vaccum
