richard_uk
I'm about to fit a basic system in my car, I've fitted countless car hifi systems in the past but haven't done one for a few years and I'm a little stuck. I'm fitting a Sony CDX-F7500 head unit, an Alpine MRV-F300 2/3/4 channel amp, Alpine components up front, and a JL Audio sub in the boot. The components will be connected to 1/2 channel, and the sub will be bridged on 3/4 channel, the bit I'm stuck on is... on the back of the head unit I have front, rear, and sub outputs, obviously the components will go from the front out, but is it best to connect the sub to the rear output or the sub output? jfreeman420
but is it best to connect the sub to the rear output or the sub output? Yes it is best to connect the sub to the sub output. The head unit will have separate controls for the volume of the sub as well as a crossover point. You should actually have another set of speakers for rear fill. richard_uk
Thanks for your input on the output I've only ever used rear speakers once or twice and never found them necessary, I've always found good fronts and a sub more than adequate for me. Jason
Also on a lot of sub outs the pre out voltage is higher to give a bit more thump in the trunk.
