8o8 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Share Posted April 17, 2006 ok, let the laughter die down first.... now, I read through veni12's thread on HOW TO FIT A THICK STRAP TO THE PANERAI DEPLOYMENT It is all pretty straight forward. but I'm stuck on post #7, the tircky bit I am unable to remove the pin. Trying to push the pin out from the "P" side it won't move. But pushing it on the I side (the top side as in the picture above) the pin would move with a click, and the other end would be sticking out just a bit. Richard Tracy Posted April 18, 2006 Report Share Posted April 18, 2006 The pin is not as difficult to remove as the explanation... it only requires the right point to push it down far enough to get it under the hole. Try a thick needle, or some other such implement. However be warned,.. I did this with two of my non-deployment thick bands, and later when I removed the deployant due to comfort problems, I noticed that the band was severly creased almost to the point of a slice. JJFlash Posted April 19, 2006 Report Share Posted April 19, 2006 The very first step is to lubricate the spring bar well with silicon spray. These are usually sticky and difficult to move when new. A quality spring bar tool is quite useful here also. http://www.ofrei.com/page252.html#3102 People often scratch up the sides of the deployants trying to force the spring bars out. It is a bar that slides from side to side inside a sleeve. Push on one side and it slides out the other side, and vice-versa. Soak it overnight in a plastic baggy after liberally spraying it with silicon spray. It takes quite a bit of force to move the bar. Careful not to skive off and scratch the clasp. The bar will go all the way into the sleeve flush with the end. You will then still need to pry the bar out even once it has been released. It will only slide to the point it protrudes slightly from the other side, enough to feel with the finger. It has then cleared enough on the other side to gently pry the sleeve out. Keep on trying.
