collector21
I now own two PAM 183s. This is one of the most accurate reps. But there is a chronic weakness with this model that dealers need to address through their manufacturers: the wire lugs attach to the case by means of tiny screws, and these screws never fit properly in place. In fact, you are more than likely to either strip the screw-hole itself during a strap change, or to simply experience a screw meltdown in the form of wasted threads. Another problem is the "quality" of the screws, which are invariably prone to losing metal at the head, making the things impossible to use in short order. (I'm sorry if this post sounds faintly pornographic.) Considering how many different variations of the 45mm watches exist, your chances of buying a malfunction are high, and that's a shame, because the 183s and assorted vintage editions are not only beautiful, they are a pleasure to wear. I think it's important for dealers to recognize the problem and rectify it. Meanwhile, those of us who own the watches already--and who love them--must find a fix for their unreliable fastening system. Perhaps a slighly thicker screw that will seat better in place would provide more dependability. No matter what, there should be a low-cost solution to this dilemna that does not involve the automatic use of a fixative like Locktite. Perhaps Joe and some of the other specialists could weigh-in on the issue....
infinitime
Well stated! This was one of the main reasons why I stayed away from the 183. Although it is not authentic, I have in the past removed the wire-lugs entirely, and simply weld in place fixed lugs, with solder to fill in the holes... certainly not true to the original design, but suprisingly functional. vdubpower
exactly why i have decided that now that i have installed a BOB 26 26 strap i aint removing it from this watch, in fear of losing the screws or geting them stripped etc
collector21
Good to have company, fellows! I particularly understand the impulse to never again change the strap: too risky! My HKTan vintage brown alligator is staying in place come hell or high water.... Dealers must address this issue--after all, these are gorgeous reps, which deserve a reliable fastening system, for goodness sakes!!!! Slightly longer and just a bit thicker screws would make our lives a lot easier. I'm afraid to wear this watch in most situations. I've had the thing come loose on me altogether. And forget about finding the micro-screw once it hits the deck. The respectable dealers on this site have genuine power with manufacturers. It's high time to show some love for us loyal customers. tomtofa
Dealers? Anyone? <crickets> <crickets> <crickets> That really is an almost fatal flaw with the Radiomirs. One of the reasons to have Panerais is the fun of wearing different straps. It's not fun with these. Almost fatal because they are indeed comfortable to wear. But I sure don't buy as many as I would if there were spare (and/or better) screws available . . .

There are a lot of members who are in the same leaky boat....
