50th Anniversary Speedmaster Moon Watch

Hi all. Probably old news, But I found this on Trustys site. LINK Is this based around a real watch and if so is it an accurate replica? Cheers!

Andrew's site is down again at my end so can't see.

But yes, the 50th Anniv Speedy is real. They launched a gold version at Basel last year and my local AD now has the SS version (minor dial text addition denoting the XXXX/1957 serial) in a nice boxset. This will be one for NASA freaks or safe queens only hoping for a healthy return in a few years time.

Bad news for you is that it's a discontinued model although they do crop up occasionally in the Trade section, Pugs just sold his.

Web site it working... Watch look good, but it's the flat crystal.. If it would be doomed, I would be over one

Actually, the Anniv models do have flat sapphires. Apart from subdials of course, the only other major flaw I see is the red Omega logo above the pinion/hand stack. Looks too dark on the rep. But not a bad rep of the logo Anniv. I guess especially with the domed acrylic Speedy long out of production.

Omega and the Anniv. models received a mauling in the horology press, for being a pathetic/wasted opportunity to do something really special for such a special watch and special anniversary. Must admit I agree.

My bad then... Still, the Moonwatch deserve a doomed crystal.. Accurate or not (Omega did a mistake )
