5mls Plating Vs 14k Wrap Vs Solid 18k

OK guys, need some opinoins to chew on and obsess about. I am very drawn to Joshua's TT Datejust reps with solid 18K middle links, bezel and crown. Is it worth it for nearly $500? (and is it believable? Are these solid gold claims true?) I would think the 18k would show much better and more true to the original than 14K as well as be true to the weight. What exactly does wrapped mean? Is it like gold leaf wrapped around a metal base? Will a 14K wrapped link wear just as well as an 18k solid link? Is 5mls gold plating not worth the purchase? I have bought only SS reps but I'm thinking of branching out.
