eibon
I'm impressed with the look of the Explorer 1 rep on Paul / Aspire's site: http://www.aspire-eshop.com/product_info.p...&products_id=50 Do other dealers carry this same model? A lot of the pictures I've seen from others seem to have the word 'Explorer' in the wrong font. Also, can anyone point out the flaws in Paul's model? Thx
Miss Understood
My dear sweet Eibon When this watch was made Tenzing Norgay was but a pup. At that point sapphire was not commonly used for watch crystals, rather it was plexiglass or acrylic, in a raised or "domed" configuration. To my educated eye this is the most damning evidence that this watch is an impostor.
eibon
Miss Understood Many thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to grace me with a reply, and I am aware that I should have been more specific in order not to waste your time, but I was looking for the descrepancies between a modern Explorer I and Paul's rep... Can anyone help with that?

robertk
Many original explorer I's have had the crystal replaced over time with sapphire. So that is not necessarilly a test of whether it's a fake or not. I have seen three for sale in AD's and two had sapphire.
kanerich
Bought a TW best Explorer I from River -- damn near indistinguishable from the real thing. Edited June 16, 2006 by kanerich
