Watchmeister Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 This is not a quiz - I am trying to figure it out. I got this deployant with an F series gen which I believe is one of the first series with deployants. It looks very different from my subsequent daylights and has no release tabs. It just clicks in. Now the watch did not come with box but did come with gen rubber strap. Is this the first generation deployant or a rep? What do you think?:
dluddy Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Well, all of the Rep Deployants I have had came with either a single or double release tab. I say genuine.
Watchmeister Posted April 10, 2008 Author Report Posted April 10, 2008 That is my guess as well. It is a little more dimunitive and elegant than the typical deployant and does look really good with a croc strap. If it is a rep Panerai could learn something.
Guest porsche356a Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Hi Kruzer, from the engraving, its a GEN. if you ever hold any Gen engraving next to any version of REPs, you can see the distinct differences in their appearance. And the missing tab is also a give away. I Myself thought that when I first got mine. Enjoy it, and congrats!
Watchmeister Posted April 10, 2008 Author Report Posted April 10, 2008 P- Aha, it all becomes clear. Did yours come with a chrono?
fishgodeep Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 As gen as the come i'd say ...here's a reference. http://www.watches24seven.com/gallery2/mai...;g2_itemId=1030 Without wanting to hijack but on a similar subject ....was there ever a rep 2 screw tang buckle produced ? Just I have 1 on my 28 and wondering if this is gen or rep? cheers
HauteHippie Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 That's not a rep deployant IMO. Let's see the rest of this gen beauty now!
Watchmeister Posted April 10, 2008 Author Report Posted April 10, 2008 Actually it came with this one - Oops, I mean this one:
UncleJay Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Yes Sir, it's a gen. It's the early style and I agree it's dressy with a croco. And to answer Fish, I've never seen an A series (2 screw) rep buckle.
