lemaniac
I have a PAM rep. The crown stem has pulled completely out of the watch, when I push it back in all it will do is turn the hands, no connection to the spring. Please help me decide which route to take... 1) Should I try to have it fixed by a local watch guy? 2) Should I order a new Asian 6497 and try to install myself? 3) Should I order the real deal ETA Unitas and have it installed? vric
Maybe the screw that hold the stem in place isn't tight enough, or you have a problem with your keyless work (set lever broken ?!) Try opening the back, put the crown in place. Look just near the Crown wheel (the smaller one of the 2 "big"), you have a tiny screw. turn it 1 or 2 turn clockwise to screw it with the stem in place. Try your stem.. If it doesn't work, I guess you will have to remove the movement, hands and dial and take a look at the keyless work. (if you don't have the tool or skill, bring it to someone that can make it.. It's probably an easy fix.) P.S. I'm not expert and might be wrong.. I start messing with movement. lemaniac
Yeah, I will probably open her up. I doubt I can fix her tho. A Gen ETA Unitas is $129.00 from Ofrei. How much for the Asian Unitas clone? And who can I get one from? Edited April 23, 2008 by lemaniac
fitmic
Will the asian unitas' hands fit the Swiss one?
vric
Asia is about $50-60 if you don't want the swan neck The finish on the plates of the ETA is very dull, so if you have a clear back, it's ab it "bah". I would try to fix it. Will the asian unitas' hands fit the Swiss one? Yes.. but H1 pinion hand won't fit H3 pinion. You need to sand the opening a bit (or use DVN hand, which are for H3) Edited April 23, 2008 by vric

Of course at 50-60 bucks cheaper I think its the route to go. I will attempt to fix, if I cant I will order a new A6497....Thanks and I will let you guys know how it goes.
