milsub5517 Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 (edited) rolli, i hear that people use copper -->nickel --> gold combination where nickel layer is in between gold and copper layers and serves as an inhibitor of diffusion copper into gold which happens over time. may be this is overkill...as the diffusion process takes very long time.. but for further thoughts, you need a very very good 201A logo dial. the rest is simple. standard case, v - crown-guard, palp crown or similar, davidsen caseback, hands, non ar sapphire, movement etc.. etc... original gen logo buckle, you can buy it over an ad from panerai, i've talked with panerai = euro 100,-- watchmaker work, and then copper coating and after fine-gold plating, reassemble. rolli Edited June 12, 2008 by mil_sub
milsub5517 Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 does anyone know if the caseback is also gold plated on this 201A?
SubFrog Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 So, why all this copying others stuff? Let's just get a nice stained, glossed, wooden box, and have RWG.CC carved on the top? Maybe have an SS name plate with your forum name on the side (as an extra)?
