ETA 7750 and time settings

I was going through this thread looking for infos about the different movements. And I was suprised to read that the ETA 7750, "Valjoux" movements must NOT be set the date between 8 PM and 2 AM, or you will damage the movement.

Is it true ? To be clear about (and to be sure) this ? So you need to first set the time to 5.00 am (for example) then set your date then set your real hour (11.25PM for example) to avoid troubles with the movement ?

Yep, it is true. I've done it a few times before I found out, but luckily I didn't damage anything.

Glad to have found that info before having to set a watch :)

By the way what reliable movements would you recommend for a newbie like me with no experience in watches to avoid my purchases to be out of order after few years…
