Movement on Omega Seamaster

Hi

Pls pardon this noob question as I am new to Omega. I have noticed in a friend's Omega Seamaster (not sure if it's a rep or gen) that the seconds hand moves in 5 seconds increment meaning it will jump from 5 to 10 but with a smooth movement, is this how the movement is like ?

Or is the movement supposed to sweep smoothly? How is the movement in the rep then?

Please advise.

That movement sounds weird.

To my knowledge gen and rep Omegas are fitted with quartz (one tick per second) or automatic (smooth movement).

Sounds to me like its a quartz that needs a new battery.
