dabal
according to josh, his 001 has 0.5 mm gap between crown and the case when fully pressed down( locked), however, DSN's 01a or 02a hasno gap between the crown and the case, im not sure how big 0.5mm would look on a watch, is 0.5mm gap on 001 sounds right to you? is there any gap in gen 001? -dabal
dabal
does "0.5mm" sound too big for the gap? then i would just purchase DSN, so, please let me know, thanks all.
Watchmeister
When you say gap I assume you are referring to the gap between the casetube and the crown. There should be none other than the natural lip of the crown. But there always is that lip to lock the crown into the case tube.
bwhitesox
Is it bad to remove the black rubber seal that sits around the inside of the crown to get this gap correct.? I know it is there to waterproof the watch but does it serve any other purpose.
Watchmeister
You mean the gasket that keeps water and dust out? Just teasing B. Which gasket? If it is the one immediately below the pate of the crown it shouldn't cause any gap unless there is no case tube and it is acting as the only seal between the stem and the movement - in which case I would keep it. Should be about 0,15 to 0,2mm less. To achieve that you got to sand down the CG feet.
