3717 indice shaving

So there is a lot of talk about shaving down the indices/markers on a 3717. What does this refer to? Are they too tall? Too wide? To long? Is there a reference to compare the gen vs rep? I want to ask my watchmaker to do this for me but a reference would help.

The 3, 6, 9, and 12 markers are about twice too thick. They can be removed easily and glued back after thinning them.

Yea, they're much too thick. The Zigmeister removed mine and reformed them out of super luminova rather than thinning them. He did a great job:

They are too tall. Simply by removing them and replacing it with thinner marker will do the job nicely. Usually this is done when you are reluming the dial and hands:
