jfreeman420 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Share Posted September 18, 2008 When certain ceramic is baked at high temperature it becomes very hard. Ceramic used in watches is scratchproof. There are also some very high end chef's knives made from ceramic. These knives stay sharp with no need for sharpening. Seems odd at first because we are used to ceramic being used for fragile knick knacks, but it is a very versatile material. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Logan Posted September 18, 2008 Report Share Posted September 18, 2008 "Ceramic" is a pretty broad term.. it can mean everything from the clay based stuff your dinner plates are made from, right thru to the zirconian based types used for bearings, knives and of course watch parts. Quite what our rep ones are made from is anyones guess of course. There have been issues with cracked bezels on the Big Bangs which doesn't seem to happen on the real thing for example.
