kronos twin
Hello friends, I hope you are all well. I am considering doing a modification piece using a 44mm california dial I purchased on ebay. i would like to put it in a 45mm radiomir case. Before I do so, I'd like to know if any of you have experience with this. Is it even a possibility? Thanks in advance. kt
kronos twin
I'll give this another try, in the hopes one of you might be able to save me some time and money. Can I put a dial intended for a mini-fiddy in a 45mm radiomir case? Please help.
sssurfer
I will try it tomorrow and tell you.
sssurfer
Ok, I tried exatly a minifiddy dial into a blackseal case, which is pretty a standard 45mm radiomir case. It fits. As expected, it is even a tiny bit loose -- about 1/3mm in every direction, I would say. Once the dial is mounted on the movement, and the movement fastened to the case by a good spacer ring, this should be no problem.
kronos twin
Thank you surfer! That's the ticket right there! You'll be the first to see pics of my own cali radiomir fantasy of fantasies! Now to get some watchmaking talent... hmm...
jerkulot
Hmmm hi, im also doing a similar project but the thing is i think the minifiddy is a 45mm pam, so it carries a 45mm dial (hence the radiomir dial print) which would exactly fit the rad case, so technically the 44mm pam dials would be smaller... sssurfer
Thank you surfer! That's the ticket right there! You'll be the first to see pics of my own cali radiomir fantasy of fantasies! Great, thanks! I really love fantasy projects. As soon as I have time I'll test the minifiddy dial on a standard 44mm luminor case too. Keep tight.
sssurfer
Ok, I tested the minifiddy dial in two 44mm luminor cases. It fitted in one (a 005 case), but not in the other one (a 111 case). So I suppose it's a matter of good or bad luck. Luminor rep cases are all but standard. In case you are curious, I took measures about the diameter of a few types of dials: Minifiddy: 36.10mm 45mm case radiomir: PAM 183: 35.6mm PAM 287: 36.0mm 44mm case luminor: JimmyFu's PAM 111: 34.0mm Joshua's Asian 21J PAM 104: 34.4 - 34.5mm (two different models) Unnamed Asian 21J luminor: 34.5mm Joshua's PAM 090 (Seagull movement): 34.5mm PAM 140 (Seagull movement as well): 35.3mm I also have a few DSN dials of auto luminor that I still have to measure. So it looks that jerkulot is right. Dials for 45mm radiomir are about 36mm diameter, dials for 44mm luminor are about 34.5mm diameter, and the minifiddy dial is close to the radiomirs.
