Omega SMP Issue, Help Please

I have an Omega SMP Bond and something has happened. Something inside is rattling and it is hard to wind the watch using the crown. It still works just rattles when it moves.

Sounds like you'll need to open the caseback and see what's going on...

Could you be more specific? What movement is it? Does it still run ok?

Yes it is running fine. It is Swiss ETA movement. When I try to manually wind the watch it is very resistant and feels a bit off. When the watch is shaken gently something on the inside it rattling. I don't have anything to take the caseback off with.

Well stop winding it for now until you can open it and look. If it is still auto winding then it's probably something simple. If you don't have a caseback tool then take it to a local kiosk.

Perhaps a loose rotor? just invest $12 in some watch tools:

Some decent tools are highly recommended for any rep collector given the QC problems we encounter.

That's why I specified if it is still auto winding. If it is then the rotor is not the issue.

If something is rattling around inside, STOP wearing the watch until you figure out what the problem is.

Otherwise, you will destroy the movement when the part rattling around gets caught up in the gears...
