rgriffith24
Movement died in my GMT IIc. Looking to replace the movement, dial and hands. Do any of our dealers sell just the parts? If so who and is it worth it price-wise?
rogerthat
In my experience, they can get the parts but rarely wish to sell just parts. Not enough money in it for them and I think they need to call in favors from their vendors to get it done which they will do when needed but would prefer not to do. However if you buy a watch at the same time, 90% of the time you can add parts like you want to your purchase. My guess you would pay at least half price of a new watch for a new movement, dial and hands. Not sure it would make sense for that amount of parts. Works better if you need a couple of screws, just a new dial, etc... Anytime I have approched a dealer with a part request paired with a new purchase I have gotten the parts that i wanted at a low cost, but again that was for screws, maybe a strap, etc... not the movement, dial and hands. patinga
I have bought parts from a dealer of ours but I order from him a lot. I guess it wouldn't hurt to as our dealers or whomever you deal with.
trailboss
Your best bet for the MVT would be Cousins UK or Jules Borel and CO The dial and hands, ask around here. What's wrong with the dial and hands? Col.
rgriffith24
Nothing is wrong with the dial and hands. I've just never removed them and don't have the proper tools to do that job. The other reason is I don't know if the dial and hands will transfer properly. The existing movement is a clone ETA and would like to get a swiss version.
