Rolex Submariner Face Plate mods, Anyone do any?

I am just wondering if someone has done something with the faceplate and how hard was it? I am thinking of doing something with it if its not to hard to take it apart.

Also what is under the face plate on a replica? Is it just the mechanical parts underneath? I was thinking it would be cool to have a Rolex Sub with no faceplate, so that you can see the moving mechanical parts below but I don't think they are built like that and I liked the style of other brands skeleton watches I have seen and thats why I was thinking of doing it on a Rolex Sub but I can't find anything.

I've punched out markers and replaced them with better ones. If you left the dial off you would see the datewheel. don't think it would be very attractive.

I forgot about the date wheel, ya that won't look good. I guess my next replica will be a skeleton of another brand.
