Sofacleez
Hi, I'm from Northern New Jersey, pretty much born and raised. I've had some pretty nice watches most of my life. Currently own a few Rolexes new and vintage. My only experiences in the past with replicas were obvious fakes on other people - TT DateJusts with "diamond" hour markers and gold plate rubbing off, you know the Canal St. specials. What got me interested in the whole reps thing was a good friend who showed me his Platty Yacht-Master. I have a gen, and had he not told me it was a rep, I would not have noticed. It wasn't until he took it off and and I compared it to mine I could see the differences. That got me to thinking - there are a number of watches that I have wanted or have owned (like a GMTII) that I would like to have for fun. I am kind of a Rolex guy, but I like Panerais, Omegas, BRs and I'm sure I will become intrigued by lots more. Thanks for your time. Ken
Watchmeister
Ken- Welcome to the Board. With the current state of high end reps it is a great way to play in brands you might not otherwise buy. It may even result in your buying a gen you never intended to. Enjoy the ride.
