newton Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 I dont know whether i'm living in fantasy land but is there any way of getting rid of scratches on my BLACK bell&ross BR03-92? The problem is is that the sratches show up light so they are really visable.Any tips guys?
Guest avitt Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 There's a chance that the scratches are really just rub marks on the surface of the PVD. You can try buffing them off, to see if that helps. A Cape Cod cloth rubbed gently will let you know quickly if the marks can be removed. If, however, they are really scratches which go through the PVD to the base stainless steel, then you don't have much recourse. If you really, really, really love the watch, you can consider having it stripped and recoated...

Thanks for your info mate.I think it is definately the second diagnosis(scratches which go through the PVD to the base stainless steel).I really love the watch who would do this job and how much would it cost?

Well, I'd be able to DLC coat it for you. Here are a few reference threads: http://www.rwg.cc/members/PVD-DLC-Removal-t88435.html http://www.rwg.cc/members/PVD-CoatingWhat-possi-t94378.html http://www.rwg.cc/members/DLC-Coating-Start-fini-t96983.html http://www.rwg.cc/members/Bead-Blasting-t71343.html http://www.rwg.cc/members/DLC-d-BR03-92-t78036.html http://www.rwg.cc/members/DLC-Coating-Refe...Pic-t84876.html http://www.rwg.cc/members/Latest-avitt-DLC-work-t86617.html http://www.rwg.cc/members/Afraid-Dark-don-t-h-t98359.html But the cost to strip and recoat is about $400. (Which is, by far, the best price available for this type of service...But is still quite a bit of money...)
