I have said this before but it might steer a new guy down another path and save them a lot of time and money... After putting a few Frankensteins together using genuine rolex 15xx movements I have come to the conclusion that it is simply not worth the trouble and expense. Why? Because: 1...rolex movements cost too much today 2...parts are few and far between and cost too much 3...the movements are not rugged enough to live very long if the wearer is rough on watches aka "Raised on Quartz" 4...btw, 30xx and 31xx movements are not much better I can put a watch on with an Eta movement and not worry about it but any watch with a rolex movement in it worries me to no end. I know many can say they have not had any trouble with genuine rolex movements but I can not. I have had a hell of a lot of trouble with them in the past 40 years. Not too bad when you could buy parts from supply houses but much different today when you have to bid against 20 people needing the same part on eBay. The downside for me is now I have a few movements left without cases so I am in the process of buying a genuine case now and then for the movements. I have been on the lookout for 1002 etc cases to make 34mm "explorers" but they cost too much or have a big dose of corrosion. You can get by selling a watch with a "refinished" dial but not with a replica case. So...what am I saying? Think long and hard before putting a genuine rolex movement in a Frankenstein watch. Etas are better and cheaper for this type of project.1 point

With thanks to SpeedyG for all of his incredible work and to DenimHead from RWG! SpeedyG did an incredible job, he even had to make a custom movement ring and dial support. I present my most recent build: This was a HR case set dial and hands from DenimHead. The strap shown is a Eulit Perlon.1 point

Gentlemen, there is a time for jesting and a time for reflection... Please, take a moment to reflect. A gen T39 has gone to the great parts dustbin in the sky. It has served, it has protected it has probably faced more challenges in a day than you will face in your whole lives and it has finally succumbed. As I hear the distant air of a bugle sounding the last post I say - it will not be forgotten. Oh Lord in heaven bless this piece of plastic. Honour its wearer and let us all bask in its reflected glory. It truly was, a great piece of plastic....... Now watch this drive!!!1 point

I know there has to be a story behind this one I doubt that it's even closely related to the cold, unless you slipped on ice and hit it on something!!! Probably snow cycling down a steep trail, hit a patch of ice and went over the dashboard, hit your watch on a rock. Exploding acrylic barely missing your head, and fortunately killed the bear that was chasing you.1 point

Praying for blessings for you and yours Nanuq. Hardest thing I have ever done in my life is take care of my Dad when he was down. Same story big tough guy, football player and my hero, seeing him vulnerable was really tough. He did pull through that though. May peace be with you.1 point

No issues at all. I think the imperfection of a raw concrete form has imperfections of symmetry and I didn't find any issues. I will intentionally use more of an asymmetric design on my next project. Like many "luxury" watch brands, many speaker manufacturers do not make their own tweeters and woofers. The drivers I'll be using next are the exact same ones used in $15k Revels. Crossover and enclosure designs are the differentiating factor. As for weight, they are about 40lbs each1 point
