  1. I just handled the gen at an AD. Holy crap this rep is good. I would have a hard time picking out differences side by side (if I were not a WIS). What I did notice was the chrono seconds hand was a bit longer on the gen, and of course the clown feet on the Omega. Of interest--I always read that winding gen watches would be super smooth, but as I wound the gen it felt just like my rep!

  2. By-Tor,

Just wondering, are you going to pick up one of BK's Sea-Dwellers? I got in on the pre-order when it was for $375. I love the sub's thin profile (as opposed to the chunkier SD).

Not sure what to do... I think I may stick with my pre-order (Christmas 2009? haha) and decide if I like it then. If not, I think I can sell it and buy a BK WM9 V2 with the proceeds. I kinda like how the SD is rarer as compared to the Sub.

  3. Welcome to RWG. I recommend using the search feature, because this question has been asked multiple times, and at least once by myself. Anyway, there are no reps of it that are sold as reps, but many frankens/reps sold as gen, which will go for around $2K.

One of the old threads has a link to someone who may have had some available, but back when I was crazy about the SM300 I couldn't find it. Good luck, and if you can get your hands on one let us know!

  4. I just went through hell and back sizing this thing, even using proper pin removal tools. The machining is not good enough to easily remove pins, some are stuck, and putting them back is a crap shoot at best. Broke two pins, but I found a fix for the clasp--one of the broken pins fit perfectly in place of the rivet, superglue and it works PERFECTLY! I ordered a WatchEden rubber strap that I will probably keep it on.

  5. The bracelet is fairly disappointing. Although the endlink/first link fit is good, the "seamaster" engraving on the clasp is a bit crooked and the quality of the clasp overall is disappointing. The parts directly surrounding the clasp do not stay tightly with the clasp. If you have used one of omega's divers clasps youll know what im talking about. The links themselves are good and the endlinks fit tightly with the case. A gen clasp would cost more thanthe watch, so that's out of the question. I have a rubber strap coming in from watcheden, so it'll probably stay on that most of the time.

  6. Here are some pics:

Experts: please check out the regulator on the balance wheel bridge... I was under the impression that these were not found on Asian 7750s!

    Beautiful caseback:

I screwed up the picture, but you can see the 450 dot (next to the piece of dust) and the text spacing:

What's the deal with the movement? What is that thing?

  7. I just received a black Speedmaster Date. Two flaws that were pointed out in the past were: 1) no dot between 500 and 400 on the tachymetre scale, and 2) dial text too close to the window.

I'm happy to say that my new watch has the dot and the text is spaced perfectly away from the box. I'd show pics, but every time I have spare cash I tend to put it towards a new watch! I'm telling you, ask your dealer if you wanna buy one of these--they have fixed some of the minute flaws. The "clown feet" are still there, though.

I'm planning on getting it Chief AR coated. Not sure how strong the coating is on the gen, but mine is pretty damn reflective in comparison to my $100 Narikaa PO, which is actually quite good!

Does anyone know the best way to acquire a flat feet Omega logo? I heard you can buy them from Silix on one of his dials and switch it, but I'd rather not buy an entire new dial. The rep factories should just make a bunch of flat feet and sell them to us. Of course, it'd be nicer if they could just have flat feet from the start...

  8. So I have an incoming Omega Speedmaster Date with the ubiquitous A7750 movement. Reading The Zigmeister's reviews of it has shown that it's a good movement if serviced. However, I don't have any watch makers that are willing to do a service on a rep movement, but he is willing to replace pushers and switch hands. I was thinking, why not just run my watch into the ground every few years and replace it with a 7750? I bet the movements cost less than a servicing--certainly an option if you don't have access to one who will do it.

Actually, The Zigmeister, if you read this, is it much harder to service an Asian movement vs an ETA one? i.e. is it a 100% copy (except for that regulator on the balance wheel bridge) and anyone with the Swiss service manuals could do the work on the Asian one? Thanks so much for your help. I just want some watches that I can keep on my wrist for a while.

  9. So far so good and amazing service from reg. Mine arrived as promised. Happy with watch seems a good deal and the price is right.

One thing i wasn't expecting though was that the bezel does not rotate at all. Does anyone elses? are they all superglued on?

I highly doubt they all came with stuck bezels... one of the many people who received it would have said something by now.
