  1. This project has started in 2010 and was finaly completed just in September of 2011. It was coming together slowly but to me it was worth the wait. :clap2:

It started with a very-hard-to-source HBB RG Ceramic Case (not plated :)) with crappy 21k A7750 and white DW. V1 RG/PVD Buckle from V1 ultimate RG, 2009 baton style dial and RG hands set (both by V2 maker) came from Mary. Ceramic RG bezel was also replaced with Brushed ceramic bezel from V2 maker. Then brand new movement died while my smith was swapping black DW in. While I was looking for the donor HBB watch (or new movement per se) I snatched one of the last TXcollector's Blue AR Xtals. Finaly I pulled the trigger on ABII Lite from Tony (asian7750) because i needed ABII bezel and also because I wanted 28K A7750 in this RG HBB. I consulted with fellow geeks here and on RWG regarding compatibility of dials/hands between 21K(v2) and 28K (v1/V5) A7750 movements. Got mixed feedback and just took the leap of faith in my smith.

He retrofited V2 dial and hands (except H-seconds hand) onto V1 A7750 28 K movement with little problems. Dial feet matched however V1 DW got misalligned a bit with V2 dial so smith also had to swap V2 black DW back into 28K V1 heart. The worst discovery was that V2 H-seconds hand did not fit V1 28K A7750. I sourced a new set of RG hands by V1 maker (thanks Tony), but they do not make H-hand in RG, only in red. This is the biggest "tell" from Dutchy's pieces. I may replace red H-hand with RG one if I source it eventualy from V6 maker. While at it, smith perfomred full movement service and also replaced pvd screws on bridges and rotor with silver counterparts. Last but not least, I have added Mickey's 1) movement stickers (H and 27 Jewels), 2) Ti Bezel screws and 3) Gummy Croc strap.

Besides H-hand I will eventualy swap reg 309 RG case-back as this one is def not limited edition.

Please judge the final product for yourselves. Sorry for the crappy iphone pics and fingerprints:D .

    Any comments/suggestions...welcomed ;)

  2. Hi folks,

AFAIK only PAM199 has polished SS case and waffle/carbon look dial but its limited edition and i do not like regatta on the dial ....

I love DSN's PAM025 waffle dial, but I dont like Ti at all. If I commission Davidsan to build me PAM024D but put waffle dial from PAM025, how bad this creation will be?

Complete fantasy watch right? If so how bad u think it will look like in eyes of PAM addicts and us geeks in general?

    Any opinions are welcomed smiley.gif

  3. Hi folks

I have ordered HBB ABII lite form Tony (asian7750) for replacement parts. I needed bezel for my V5/V1 ABII hybrid as well as new A7750 for my RG HBB project. It is form the lastest batch and I was surprised to find the following in the package:

    1) I have not recieved any previously ordered V1/V2/V1.5/V5 HBBs with protective plastic cover. This is new to me:

    925bdd54.jpg

    2) This V1.5 HBB from Tony now comes with rotor with correct bearing (He also has them available as spares for $35).

    0bd4ef79.jpg

For comparison, this is the pic of V1.5 ABII that I have ordered from Tony back in May.

    3) Not really a surprise ..and not really pleasant....but as other members have noticed strap lugs covers are not sitting flush with the upper case plate. They also do not extend far enough below the bezel but thats the old news. This can be easily spoted when compared to V5 case:

However, V1.5 lite ordered back in May did not have this flaw. These are pix of V1.5 AB2 back from May:

So once again, rest can be assured that quality and fitment of parts on V1.5 HBBs is inconsistant as factory is putting them together with whatever parts avaialble.

  4. Well, that's pretty insulting talk.

The Zigmeister is is great of course. But he has a waiting list. Sometimes it can be months. He can't be the watch repairman for everyone here.

Over the past six years or so we have seen people other than The Zigmeister offer inexpensive repairs here but they have faded away to put it mildly.

The 200 to 400USD range is what you are going to find in your area in north america and western europe. I'll stick with that prediction. If you can do better locally (I can when he's out of the hospital) go with it.

But don't buy a rep assuming that you can easily get it fixed locally for far under 200USD.

IN NYC I have 7750 iserviced for $150 tops...

  5. Folks,

the manufacturer screwed up the AR this time. My sincere apologies for this but unfortunately out of my control. I'm dealing with a very respected firm and I had no reason to believe they would mess up like that.

I'm working out a deal with them to fix this. Most likely it will involve replacing the crystal you have.

In case you have already redone the AR I will discuss individually how to fix this for you.

    TXCOLLECTOR

For everyones benefit...Could you please clarify what is the issue exactly. Is it durability of the coating, tint, or overall strength of AR (it is kinda weak)? Is the issue related to all Crystals in the second run?

    Thanks

  6. I agree mate, you shouldnt need to tilt it at all.

I assume you have a full lume hand model rather than the framed hands with lume inserts?

Is your WS sure you have recieved the correct custom parts?

The thing to remember is the B&R has a terrible rep for lume quality on the gens. Missing lume, no lume and poor strength. To be honest the lume you have on yours is probably the same as a lot of the gens. I say that because you have the 2836 version and this only comes from one factory which also has the best rep lume for the B&R plus AR and on the 01s the hex bolts on the CB.

Corret custom ETA parts (CP and hpur wheel) were ordered but still did not provide enough clearance. And Yes I have a full lume hands model rather than the framed hands with inserts. Meantime even on 2836 model hands are lumed very very poorly by rep factory. Having said this I confirmed with members on other forums that hands had to be tilted ever slightly (some reported that even stock hands occasionaly rub). Kent Parks lumed B&R have hands tilted a bit.

  7. Could anyone share experience of luming B&R03-92 hands ?

My watchsmith/modder has attempted to do best job with custom oredered CP and Hour wheels (i have B&R with 2836 ETA mvt) but it does not provide enough clearance. The hands will have to be tilted if lumed and watchsmith is not really pleased with doing it that way. I guess first Q is whether any amount of lume can be applied to the hands (AFAIK Hour and Minute only) at all to improve what came form the factory? Whoever had his/her B&R03 lumed, what was done with the hands? Were they lumed minimaly and tilted a tad and if so does it look that bad?

    Any feedback will be helpfull!

    Many Thanks

    Alex
