i could NEVER watch a DLP set without seeing that damned rainbow effect! DLP also seemed to have poor contrast and focus imo. perhaps it was ahead of its time for awhile, but i guess it became undeveloped and abandoned. I use to agree plasma yieled the best picture, but these new LCD sets have fixed what i disliked about lcd and the screen door effect is still there on plasma but now LCD looks just as good with out the screen door. OLED and SED TV are the future technology for tvs. currently SONY makes an 11" OLED set with a price tag of $2,500. i dont know WHO would buy it tho.
-
solution: buy a new bezel ring and pair it with the clarks 295c2 ? how is the wholesale crystal quality?
-
have the SAME set. its freaking amazing and really inexpensive $1300 canadian. maybe only a Sony has more detail in the picture but NOT enough to warrant the almost $1,000 price increase. great color reproduction on that set, and sharp as a knife! as for the 1080p 720 issue, i due notice the difference at 8' from a 46" set. i still dont think bluray is perfect and sony has relied on misleading consumers about bluray, they've marketed it as the second coming. Unfortunately bluray is the only option as Sony won the HD war by bundeling it with PS3s. I've noticed even an ACTUAL upconverted NOT scaled DVD image looks GREAT, and once youre into the movie you dont notice it... in fact dvd looks more film like on an HD set. Now's a good time to jump into an HD set, things have started to plateau in terms of technology leaps. All we need now is a better BluRay player or even better, a superior format that delivers HD.

WEIRD! it just CLICKED for me!

SAMSUNG LCD 120Hz 1080p 50,000:1 contrast 4ms with the new sets you shouldnt encounter color banding issues like devitt was mentioning unless your source has a poor video processor. i.e PS3 for bluray the samsung has VERY sharp detail and vivid colors, only second to Sonys slightly more detail but its not worth the premium to go SONY. sony sets i also find more color neutral, of course you CAN adjust that. best bang for your buck and something i would never feel buyers remorse about would be a samsung LCD set. forget LG, Toshi, Panny or the discounted off brands

exceptional!

NICE! might have to get me one of those now...DAMNIT. my list grows even longer

a couple things i noticed. maybe it's the angle but the crown gaurds look unevenly shaved. also the dial looks a little skewed more to the right. maybe this is not true in person. still a good project and congrats on doing it yourself. where'd you source that clasp? the noobmariner clasp crown stamping sucks. GEN DIAL... NICE SCORE! did this model have the same bezel insert snap in problems? how you liking the clarks hands? I agree with dizzy, wish rolex made the 50th with a black insert (perhaps ceramic) and the maxi dial. which is WHY i LOVE the 1680 dial.

What reps are out there that are ~40 mm?

i'm in my 20s and pull off a submariner VERY nicely. it's all in how you carry yourself and interact with people. and in all fairness the submariner isnt as expensive as many things that have come out of Rolex. i think an Explorer 1 however can be pulled off easier for someone in their 20s. if it's an older sub someone might assume it's been in the family for awhile and it's your 'turn' to wear it. -
i bought a replica day date many MANY years ago from NYC that had an ETA quartz movement in it. SAME movement as my higher priced quartz diving watch I learned once i had to replace batteries. so swiss quartz is cheap, but i think the movement in the seamaster for example has a better finish and quality of parts. The only battery powered movements im interested in is the accutron 214 tuning fork movements and the ETA autoquartz.

Guns R phun! i do want to get my license (canada) the idea that a criminal has access to guns in my country but i cant does make me uneasy when it comes to protecting my family and property. police here couldnt catch a cold. im not going to rely on the government to protect me & mine.

the speedmaster bracelet is the most comfortable SS bracelet i own.

browse the for sale section here as well. used pieces usually come from established members with good feedback for a lot less than dealer retail. in fact there are 3 decent subs for sale right now in the used watch section
-
if it works for you WHY NOT! i personally could never get the racquet ball trick to work, trusty old LG openall for me : ) plus with that i know its securley tightened back afterwards.
-
ALSO awesome used pieces go on sale quite often in the sales forum, there's like 5 subs for sale as i speak, all WAY below dealer "retail"
-
it probably wasnt the best purchase you could of made out of all options, im sure it'll look decent just not as good as some models offered from other dealers for a lower(believe it or not) price. post some pictures of it once you get it, and we'll help you out here with some recommendations. a better purchase would of been: either a euromariner or PT supreme sub(WM9) or even start with a noobmariner ($120)which is still A VERY attractive watch, to practise some modding on and see if the sub is your style or not. as for the COSC timming and overhaul i wouldnt count on it, i've heard stories otherwise. most ETAs run pretty decent and within COSC out of the box in the first place. unless the movement theyre giving you is garbage and rusted, in that case you dont want it anyways. but this community here will strive to help you as much as possible. All i can say is read a lot if you the time to do so here.

Review of Rolex 16610 Submariner "Noobmariner"

ttk is no longer active here, contact eurotimez from the dealer section for this piece. -
hmmm new bezel assembly....that's not very encouraging. how much that set you back? ebay? what was the problem, was it with that ring that was too thick stopping the insert from snapping in? im interested to see your finished piece, sounds like its coming along and will be great in the end. if you're satisfied with the results of your modding and have a good method you should still publish a guide if you have the time, it'd probably be universally helpful. thanks for all the info thus far

Elaborate Scam In a Very Known Watch SIte

what an age we live in! touch screen cell phones that play video and store over thousands of music files, satellite recon for the averge Joe, and tires that re-inflate automatically if punctured! if you told me all this 10 years ago i'd call you a DAMN liar! -
looks awesome! probably my next purchase from ET is the Moon watch or the broad arrow. although i also want a vintage daytona and sub 1680... too bad the exchange rate isnt kind to the Canadian dollar anymore...
-
i've a seen a handful of actual commercial divers with Submariners over their wetsuits. does COMEX still use Rolex "tools" cause i know they have a pretty tight relationship and they built the equipment to test the deep sea dwellers claim to almost 4KM! but a dive computer does make more sense and is probably more widely used and the defacto standard for divers everywhere
-
looking good, is the LV insert the one that got replaced? it looks nice, is it a jewelry outlet insert?
-
thanks for the info! i remember you were asking about reluming the sapphire pearl bluesphere, any luck with that? hows your 'euromariner' guide coming along?
