  1. puppies!!! i hope at least one is named "sub"
  2. bought a set from him for a 1:1 16610 sub, it was too loose and fogged under the crystal. i could push the assembly on by hand, ultimately returned it. his stuff is no good. im now convinced of this ad nauseam . even his crown tubes have a high rate of failure, ripping right in half during a routine install, the metal is a cheap light tin or something, yukis are built way better
  3. very nice looking! love the side x side comparison whats the breakdown of parts?
  4. ive never been able to reinstall the datewheel with the overlay still on it
  5. but the old giant crowns on the vintage 703s are so cool looking! plus the modern ones seem to leave a bit of gap where it usually meets the case.
  6. the CGs on MQs are horrid and his cost a pretty penny
  7. its off center like on the gen DRs
  8. get it serviced, or buy a new movement, regulating wont help you much in this situation. you might have a movement pieced back together with parts from other movements.
  9. if youre looking for original parts dial + hands + insert $600 minimum , no idea what a bezel ring would cost ya, could be $300-600 reproduction parts $400 for everything you need, less than half the price
  10. exactly why i say forget it, swim with confidence knowing that non functional valve will never leak. i doubt youll ever get called out on the valve, more likely the date wheel first.
  11. that might be tricky. since its not exactly the same as gen, any watch maker can tell its not exactly the same too and may refuse to work on it. also where would you find a replacement balance wheel if you needed it? the rep 3135 balance wheel is not gen like. rolex parts are also sky high so any parts that do indeed fit will cost ya hundreds.
  12. you could. but it would be a fast beat movement and the date wheel still wouldnt turn in the correct direction, maybe even the dial feet are different on the 1520 versus the 3135. a conversion to a 1520 probably wouldnt work and or be too costly
  13. i am genuinely interested in how this triple 6 will turn out
  14. caseback paint will need removing date will need realigning from the looks of it. lug holes need drilling judging from the bars that are currently installed. cgs look done (?) crown doesnt look like a stock rep one either, so maybe the crown and tube are already done. better pics? align yourself with a trustworthy and talented modder, they will take care of it for you. unless youre a huge DIY guy
  15. sounds like youre volunteering for something
  16. they never had properly drilled lugs, all 1665s have the glued down singer dial. the newer ones have the GW caseback, but not always. doesnt really help.
  17. he valve is functional on the real old ones, different bracelet too. caseback may also be slightly different the fact that mbks are sold as accepting gen parts is slightly misleading. a gen isnert should fit, sometimes not. a gen crystal should fit, gen dial, and a gen bracelet should as well -sort of. thats really about it. you want to fit gen springbars you have to drill it out. you want to fit a gen crown you have to do the work of removing the tube and cleaning the threads +countersinking it, you want a functional he valve you have to drill it out and install new hardware, you want to fit a gen movement -you have to modify the movement ring. theres quite a bit still required to actually 100% accept gen parts, it is not plug and play ready unless the seller you bought it from has modified before shipping so that it is plug and play ready. but when complete it is very rewarding http://www.flickr.co...with/6203387915 for the 1665 you also need to remove the caseback paint, possibly trim the cgs depending on how well your case was cut, matte spray the dial and paint the hands to match dial marker color, youll notice on the mbks theyre slightly off. if youre not modifying the he valve at least add some tonal differences in reflection. throw in a slow beat 2846 movement. if youre not replacing most of the bracelet wear it on a nato strap if your concern is about rep accuracy. *oh and dont forget to add that retaining ring gasket that the factory doesnt include for complete waterproofing, its a smaller sized gasket than the caseback you have a bit of a journey ahead of you.
  18. how come i dont get mail on Saturday?
  19. pin, tiny drill bit, let it sit in isopro. you can polish it with some high grit sand paper or rub it against a dremel buffing wheel by hand or maybe even try a cape cod cloth.
  20. even the box is nice looking!
