  1. yeah stay away from the "clone" 3135. not only are their manufacturing problems but youll eventually find red bits flaked off in your movement and possibly on the dial from the gears. its best to purchase a genuine swiss eta and save yourself the headache that will ensue in the long run from this movement. consider selling the rotor as a novelty.
  2. you know theres a rolex number for reporting lost or stolen pieces and if/when it comes in for servicing they will hold it
  3. theres a few DIY solutions to try 30% simple green 70% hot water 50% pure white vinegar 50% hot water for removing oil naptha (zippo fluid) just becareful of combustion if it gets too hot i personally let it soak a bit with vinegar and water, clean cycle, then a rinse cycle with distilled water. i find this works well but i mostly use this on metal jewellery and bracelets. if youre removing oil naptha is what most old school watch smiths swear by. its since been removed from the market for cleaning , something to do with cancer maybe, but it can still be found as zippo fluid. again becareful since some cleaners super heat to aid in removing debris and heat + lighter fluid.... well... you get the idea. you might need up to 4 cycles to clean everything properly and some ultra sonic cleaners are useless (mostly $60 and less) theres a test you can perform with a pencil and a piece of glass, mark one side of frosted glass with an x with a pencil, place it in the cleaner with water and run, the pencil mark should disappear within 20 seconds for it to pass correctly. you should also see tiny bubbles when cleaning which is called agitation this mechanism is what actually causes microscopic cleansing. the use of vinegar (acid) in your solution helps increase the surface area while cleaning making the agitation a lot more effective than other solutions... anyways this is what i use. there are commercial cleaners that may be superior depending on what your job requires but those can cost $60/gal, where as vinegar is maybe $1
  4. fell on concrete eh? does it still keep time?
  5. yeah i d like to understand as well how you can do this for $1600
  6. you can find an oil chart here: including what number of moebius oil to use on what part. its all diagrammed http://www.sellita.ch/images/stories/documents/SW220_DOC_FULL_v.19.04.10.pdf
  7. to tell you the truth ive used rodico to mask off watch parts when spraying them. worked 100%
  8. theres a reason Jesus will never return to earth...LAWSUITS oddly enough it was just today i was pondering the phrase "life's not fair" in response to someone saying something is not fair. and its true, life isnt. someone who smokes every day of their adult life can live to be 100 while a new born child can die of blood cancer in less than a year. there are so many children in third world countries that will never realise their potential all because they had the misfortune of being born there. cherish each day, and discover something about each day that makes you happy.
  9. agreed. in the end i chose pts bracelet, gen 580s and gen 93150 clasp, total around $300, about half the price of a used beaten stretched to hell 93150 complete.
  10. my current 5513 project consists of all gen parts, excluding the case and bracelet links only (gen 580s, and 93150 clasp) gen ETA, everything else is gen rolex totals around $1300 US with MBW case its been noted that yukis current case offerings are NOT upto par after supposedly changing manufacturers or tooling resulting in bad looking rehauts. search around there are reviews of his/her new case. in fact there is even a review on yukis site with mention of his her case but in the end the builder used an MBW, the whole review is oddly showcased there. i dont think yuki actually read it or it wouldnt be published there.
  11. maybe it was a 16800 going tropical
  12. GEN PT/CARTEL REP see the problem? the mbk doesnt even have this type of connecting link. but whats worse is the MBK has an odd noticeable taper to it. maybe the metal is soft enough to heat up and close...probably not yeah ADs are corporate stooges to the all mighty ROLEX law of the land.
  13. no, they actually dont look bad, which is why i was wondering.
  14. there really are no good bracelets and a gen is ridiculously priced. mbw clasp has the problem of being a 93250 stamped "93150", PT bracelet end connecting link is folded over but can be opened where as it should be folded and sealed, endlinks are obviously stamped too large with 580 and 93150. but i cant seem to find a better solution short of mixing gen parts either
  15. go vintage, classic. Oliver People glasses.
  16. agreed, countersink is the way to go youll have to countersink a depth of 0.35mm at 4mm circumference
  17. i have seagul makes them, and they suck this watch is more than likely a pt dweller so it probably is a recycled 2846... not sure if thats actually better than a clone, but at least its OEM
  18. this is how they come the last i was buying them in bulk as for the hands, they all suck. they all have tells that once you realize will stick out like sore thumbs. try and score some gen hands. if youre going all the way with a gen movement spend the $300 on gen hands. if you were to find a gen case expect it to set you back several thousands of dollars and may not eve be water proof
  19. mbk fits gen 5513 dials. which i believe are 26mm
  20. if it cost more than a lowepro whats the point...
