i was thinking of making one of these just yesterday, figuring i could do it for just under five
mbk case
yuki dial
yuki hands
ebay t19
gen crown
aftermarket insert
WO tube
nato strap
2836, clone or gen, whichever
whats your recipe?
yeah i bet they wont try suing a kid again anytime soon. wait who am i kidding, its sony. being offline effected their bottom line and that seems to be what they understand most, message sent, message received.
see the little NON screw circle, which is actually a button... up and to the right of the screw your circled. you push that in with a 1.20mm screwdriver ONLY
found this via google in 3 seconds
"Sample of case clamps of an ETA Caliber 2836-2 inside a Titoni Cosmo King Day-Date. Note, the watch has also a white spacer ring. In addition you will see the pusher location for releasing the stem (small circle next to upper case clamp). The lower case clamp is covered by the rotor. You will have to move the rotor away to unscrew it."
yes, follow the crown stem youll see a tiny button on the movement plate, use a 1.20mm driver ONLY to slide into the slot and depress it or you are sure to bend the pin. i really hope Josh remakes this case and addresses the stubby CG issue, its too glaring.
Anugs i believe.. so pure time?
shipping is $30, $60 total,
really only the clasp is junk on these.
at the same time im buying a few more goodies to make it worth it like a noobmariner 2008 dial, its an excellent dial to have on hand if it were ever needed in the future.. who knows how long until it disappears as the ceramic sub takes over.
apparently that Tudor case from JaW is not up to the job. rwg member sly can tell you more. he owns it and yukis, both are disappointing according to him and not for OCD reasons.
im trying to find a straight answer to the mystery of why some dials decay to orange and others can remain a creamy white.
its a known fact that tritium has a half life of 12.5 years, i have a gen dial that is older than this half life, i will say even a full life. the hour indices remain an almond.
now the question is, will this dials markers decay further causing the color to change or since the tritium is no longer active at all there will be no catalyst to cause the decay and they will remain an almond color indefinitely.
i dont get this fanaticism over having a gen movement, i know modern 16610s that are true to 3-4secs a day, compare a 2892 at $200 to a 3135 at over $1200, whats the point really. that extra $1000 buys all sorts of other visually gen goodies. even vintage, ETA is good enough for the COSC certified RADO diastar one at 21.6bph , Bulova, Enicar, Doxa, OMEGA, etc etc. is a gen rolex movement really worth 6X the price?
im sure ive seen seans case set on ioffer or even ebay from an american seller at least a year ago. the questions is how is a 3135 case helpful with out some more modding. also the case back looks incorrect. i guess im just waiting to see someone build one up to showcase it before considering the plunge of $4XX dollars for a case set. even a wm9 kit was cheaper wasnt it?
i used to do it from the winding position it seemed like blind luck if it didnt get screwed up when it came time to reinsert the stem. have since tried the time setting pos and have never had a problem yet. time setting allows for two things IMO, the hack lever to stop movement which is handy for installing hands AND you can eyeball the stem and easily remove it and thus easily reinsert it square to the movement since the stem has a block on the end. if you dont insert it aligned to the opening in the gear thats when i believe things get pushed out of alignment.
