  1. can anyone comment on the quality of ebays WO990 aftermarket datewheels for a 16610 build? while im here, can 3135 or 1530 caliber hands be broached to fit an eta 2836? heres the listing for the DW: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310304839040&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  2. this is very awesome! im going to have to build me one of these after my franken 5513 is done!
  3. dont worry about it, i think youre fine.
  4. very nice, could be gen even. spill it.
  5. you dont appreciate this watch for its replication accuracy thats for sure. its very nice tho in its own rite
  6. indeed it does. the case really only needs 3 things; lugs drilled to 1.25mm , tube swap , and CGs done. im hoping to mod a whole bunch w/ these 3 basic changes to bring them up to a 'standard', once NP stock returns @MBK.
  7. looks good to me. lets have a look at that bracelet
  8. still hard to determine with out angles. hands look odd, but could be the lighting.
  9. yuki hands are the worst IMO a mini guide originally posted by another member (name escapes me, sorry)
  10. all garbage. there are really no good accurate hand sets cept what wm9 had. given that wm9 is history, clark or wo is a decent substitute. depends on the level of accuracy youre going for.
  11. the problem with removing the indents on the clasp is that those clasps are drilled incorrectly to begin with, removing the indents and someone noticing the smooth flip lock but the 1/2 adjuster holes aligned the way they are will automatically suspect it since NO 93150 with a smooth flip lock has the 1/2 adjuster holes aligned like that. a better scenario is to play it off as a replacement 93250 clasp. now with the smooth flip lock its not believeable as a 93250 and with the misaligned holes is not believable as a 93150 93250 only available w/ indents 2 tiered adjusters 93150 , smooth flip lock, OR indented flip lock, linear 1/2 adjustment notches
  12. i never liked google chrome, since ironically it wasnt compatible with the google toolbar firefox for me
  13. if they sell the LG style, its worth the price despite costing almost $100. you can firmly and tightly close down case backs with out burring the caseback machining from the hand held ones.
  14. cartel version is indeed fun to practice some mods on, their 5513 dials doesnt look too bad either. CGs are the biggest problem, cant be worked with on those, they come stumpy more suited for a gmt. you can only subtract metal, not add it, so these cases are NOT a good place to start. check the pt clasp with coronet stamping against the gen or even the mbk stamping, its horrible. the mbk bracelet is a 93250 style and cant be corrected since the clasp is already drilled to look like a 93250. the band also has an odd taper and the endlinks are obviously incorrect. this is where its worth sourcing a pt bracelet, get the PT 580 endlinks (decent enough, gen is better) and use the bracelet, add a gen 93150 clasp and youre good to go, complete pt bracelet $30. DONE.
  15. the puretime cases are too large, the dials are disposable, the clasp is disposable, the retaining ring needs machining, the lug holes are not in the correct spot IMO, the cgs need doing, crown needs replacing, and the bezel ring doesnt seem to fit a gen insert on account of it being too large. what are you left with? a swatch 2846 with plastic pallets that needs servicing. out of the box by all means get the $200 puretime but bring it no further or you miss the point of owning it. If you want to make a franken vintage something get the mbk case as a starting point at twenty dollars less than PTs complete. put the same amount of money into it, get a gen dial, crown, insert, a non 2846 movement and youre really only spending $70 more to bring both watches to the same point but with a correct case size and parts that fit right in to the mid case. agreed the mbk bracelet could be a lot better. skip the watch and just get the case is my advice, save the PT for casually rounding out your collection of subs.
  16. their normal production has been interrupted (verified recently), so if the OP is getting something real soon i'd be interesting to see what he/she ends up with in lieu of their typical production. if theyre supplying stuff in the interim it has to be from a different source.
  17. noob sub is miles better. so is the TW sub from BK (not burgerking, but YOU CAN have it your way)
  18. that setup looks like the powerdrill might wobble even the slightest bit, since its strapped in. the vise is awesome tho, i need one like that, will check SEARS today. enjoyed the thread link as well. thanks.
  19. im interested to see what you get as well, since i know something currently pretty interesting about mbk.
  20. those 580s look really nice! whered you get em?
  21. i tried to purchase some 580s over the weekend at two different ADs both of which insisted on seeing the watch first even though i explained i couldnt wear it with out the endlinks. one AD even wanted to photograph the serial number once i brought the watch in. they played it off like i didnt know what part i was looking for or even needed, so they "had" to see the watch. HAH
  22. if its the euromariner which was an MBK then you can pop the bezel ring with ease, use hypo cement, press and set, let it cure for 12-24hrs and go.
  23. the MBK 1680 dial fits (@26mm) IF you buy the correct old case
