  1. theres plenty wrong with it. does it even accept a gen dial? i wouldnt consider the PT as a modders delight, if youre serious pay the extra and start with a good base. tudors are also a tough call since the gen is cheaper than most members rolex frankens.
  2. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! got this one from PT for less, needed sanding but fit a gen bezel ring perfectly afterwards, looks great too.
  3. i could never get the ofrei pearl to fit this gen insert might have to widen the opening slightly
  4. PMWF not worth the price IMO cause you also need a pearl. you can score gen isnerts for $80 sometimes, like i did
  5. the crown is too large, and the crown guards are too short, it'll never look right because of the cgs. the gen in the picture has a 702 crown strong beveling makes it look larger than it really is, youd most likely end up with a 703 since a gen 702 tube is impossible to get. IMO youd replace the insert on both the MBK and this new one. gen inserts snaps in on the mbk perfectly and sits recessed. dial is better than the 5513 MBK stock one from what i can see. lug holes seem to be a bit high, and will probably need widening
  6. dials ok looking. hands, insert, endlinks (both appearance and fit), and especially the CGs are crap. the cgs and crown make it look like a seamaster/ ceramic sub. itll be interesting to see the case construction and quality. does this fit 2mm bars?
  7. id say forget the movement. i was in a similar quandary with my 5513, but the price of the gen movement is around $1300-$1600. add that to the cost of the other gen parts and im in over the used asking price for a gen 5513 which has a gen case (cant source separately) and a gen bracelet. some watches it may be worth it, such as the double red if you get a gen dial and everything else. but for the 5513 and 1680, its a tough call, you need to be on the look out for bargains to make it worth it.
  8. are the new ceramic noob subs the same crystal then as the f520?
  9. got my lady the explorer 1, loves it! too dainty for my wrist, looks great on women. wait, youre not buying for woman, nevermind. explorer 1 will probably be disc in lieu of the new explorer 2010 soon
  10. has to be purchased as a complete case is my understanding. so to answer your question, nobody. there is however a case for sale on rwi
  11. id personally wait and see what goes on sale in the members sales section as $450 is outrageous and members here and on other boards like rwi often sell slightly used to even new for $380 shipped
  12. buy the movement a la carte $70 max, you can even find some serviced ones for that price. i just bought a 2879 off ebay for less than $20. better build quality than the 2846 with an actual regulator adjuster, slow beat too, confirmed fits MBK case
  13. this was a good thread, learned some alternatives to polywatch thanks for the thread start flying'
  14. i hear mixed to neutral reviews of yuki stuff in general
  15. nah, save your dough. theyll just wear it for a week and mail it back to you.
  16. my local dealer is 10mins away but they exploit the fact that the next closest dealer is about an hour. i could probably get replacement parts from them without ever showing them a watch but i'd be paying out the ass as per their SOP. complete opportunists
  17. forget the phong, $1400 for a case is used tudor territory.
  18. theres always another job out there for someone with knowledge and skill and the will to do it
  19. i find that interesting to say the least
  20. the dials are awesome! better than Yukis even and nowhere near yukis prices
  21. i enjoy high end audio but dont care enough to personally drop thousands. the highest quality receiver i own is a higher end yamaha but it still was just under $1000 compared to $5-10K receivers. its pretty good but really only pushes 95watts per channel. i might upgrade to a better Denon with definitive speakers and an oppo player. that mcintosh is just awesome! its weird that it counts the volume in irrelevant numbers instead of db/distortion level tho
  22. problems: dial , crystal is too tall, datefon, engraving is off, insert is also bad despite all that those crown guards dont look too bad... also the hands seems ok. does it indeed accept gen parts? lets see the crown tube and maybe if you could put the bezel ring off and get a look at that retaining ring underneath
