  1. thanks for the input bossart! yeah 14mm is like wearing a PAM without being a PAM rep i was looking for something less bulkier but the dual-time dial had captured my eye.. lol about the fly-back mechanism : i didn't know that a day indicator can be problematic- i know the reps with minute or worse- seconds fly-backs are supposed to be problematic cause of poor assembly or low quality parts, but also a day fly-back is bad? it suppose to move only once every day- is that as bad as you said? i wish there was a similar rep (dual time zones) that is less thicker on the case and without problematic fly-backs module. does anyone knows anything more about the fly-back hands in our reps ? are they a big issue regarding to failures ? thanks in advance, db
  2. hey thanks for the link, even though that thread at RG looks more like irony than info or experience on the watch i was more into opinions of people on the board about this rep , and maybe somebody even had this one and can tell about it's qualities or not sounds strange but even though it's not per-gen, it's still nice =]
  3. Hey, as you probably noticed, i'm trying to explore a new range of watches, with a far different style from what i had in mind all the time (breitlings) on my search for a simple, yet "complex" rep, with a classy look to it. which also has to be below the 44mm case diameter in size i came across a few, still exploring, recently ive had a look on king's JLC Dual-Time rep, it comes in a few variation of dials, it has the ST25 (or similar) seagull/seagull copy movement which i know is one of the higher end, high quality in the asian movement range. and even though it's a fantasy model (original model is slightly different on the dial and hands) it's still pretty nice. now- it says that the dual-time feature is working right, i was wondering if it really works like it should, could i adjust each of the two time-zones individually? what about the reliability of such mod ? would it hold just fine ? i see only one crown, and the famous reccesed pusher for changing the date (if i remember). did anyone on the board tried this one before ? here's the watch i'm talking about: http://www.kingwatches.net/JL-027.htm db
  4. does the Navitimer Olympus ever got repped? and accurately? i've never seen a rep of this one on any dealer site or over the web though.. EDIT: ok , just found this: http://www.mirrorwatch.com/articleshow.asp?articleid=1618 but its quartz and IMO not accurate even not in the look
  5. thanks for the input guys ! IMO it is indeed a little pricey if there's no gen ETA beating inside- i also thought it might just be the clone-eta that comes with a big portion of the "swiss eta" titles this days.. the watch is nice looking, but it's a great tip to look it up on the JLC or ebay for accuracy i was looking for a non chrono moonphase rep, looking for something light, classy and with some extra complication(s) that are non-chrono (e.g. perpetual calendar, moonphase, power reserve etc..) any recommendations ?
  6. i was jsut looking at P.C's site and found a rep i've never seen before, it looks simple, yet complicated and classy http://www.jpc8118.com/jl01001-master-cale...362-p-4529.html it's also a little pricey.. why is that? is the movement is unique? i can see moonphase comlication and a month hand or something like that? is that a modded movement or an original eta movement that is capable of doing the moonphase complication and the extra month hand ? does anyone has this rep? how is it ? it looks like light and comfi any info is welcome
  7. the 7751 movement's complications are nice to look at - gotta love those 'busy' chrono dials phoband: is it true that the eta 7751 date wheels are per the gen longines master chrono ? i know breit are using their own font on the datora probably, but longines are using the eta date wheels on the 7751 aren't they? is it possible to get and install the eta 7751 dw on the a7751 ? db
  8. reps with the a7751, examples are: longines master chrono, breitling montbrillant datora, omega speedmaster day date..
  9. yeah, i was browsing through many search results and found out that there's no tear-down nor mini-review of the a7751 movement yet. it could be nice if we've had some in-depth info about this movement, a few really nice reps are powered by this one with all complications working which is super nice. but then again, it makes me wonder about build quality and reliability of the movement, since as much as i know and learned- the asian chronograph movements are working great when in the original layout or slight modification- but as more and more is added- more pressure is put on the gears and that makes me think if the complications added to the base a7750 to make it a a7751 put a fair pressure on the base movement or maybe it put too much pressure? most complications added are not turning extra gears full turns 24/7 like a small-secs hand, but still.. anyone knows anything about this?
  10. Hi, i was trying to search the whole board for a full or at least a half of a review of the asian 7751 movement (a7750 modded to work as 7751 with complications) i was wondering about this movement's reliability & quality , with all the packed complications added to the base a7750. any info would be much appreciated db
  11. nice features thanks for the useful info morlock ! wear it well phoband !
  12. hey guys, this watch looks fantastic !! what complications it has? and does they work as they should on the rep as well? does the rep's movement is reliable with these complications installed? look complicated =] heh.. db
  13. another great review! they keep on comin :-) thank you so much for your informative reviews francisco!
  14. lol.. yeah the price is way high in the sky IMO too :]
  15. hey mate, i own the GT rep (racing edition) it is indead- a beautiful watch and so far, my all time fave rep i dont know of a V2 of this rep, but it's a great out-the-box rep anyway, the only "big" tell is the inner bezel that is thicker then gen, and the lack of AR- although i have the "racing" edition rep, which advertised as having "light AR", most people said it's not so visible or usable AR, but i guess i got lucky cause mine came with the light AR- which is pretty good and my crystal is almost invisible in most angels under sunlight. if you want "the best GT rep", i could suggest you to choose the GT model you like (e.g. black, blue, white dial, bracelet, strap etc..) and after receiving it- wear it for awhile to see everything works properly, then send it to chief for a tight double AR, it should look amazing after doing this! the inner bezel issue was not solved yet, as much as i'm concerned. good luck
  16. found this while browsing on the bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Breitling-vintage-stor...93%3A1|294%3A50 might be of someone's interest? just a thought
  17. i've seen these auctions of small (advertised) 1,5 and 10grams pure 24k gold bullions sold on the bay. i was wondering if these are real 24k pure gold ? or its a scam gold plated metal bars ? (bars advertised as mined by istanbul, suisse, in the usa..etc..) sellers seem to have good feedbacks. what do you think? http://cgi.ebay.com/1-GRAM-24K-9999-PURE-G...93%3A1|294%3A50 db1

    Rep This :D

umm... where is that guy who said the el primero is the most complicated movement ever made ? damn- the telescope hands work by ajusting their length to the correct position for pointing to the right marking at the right position etc, as well as the revolving main part, and the small cubes with number spins as well, and many other things. that is what i call the "not possible to rep" watch, they have very limited pieces made from each model, down to only 10pieces run, up to 50peices at most. pretty cool to see the mechanism, only one vid exists on the tube, i wish there were more- but i guess not everybody can afford one =] cheers
  19. talking of complications.. the URWERK 201/2 http://www.urwerk.com/watches_201_details.asp this watch costs like a brand new ferrari
  20. thanks yeah you're right, usualy they place these indicators at 6. i collect only reps and vintage mechanical watches, and not quartz but this one had gotten to my attention, i haven't seen many swatch watches like this one- most of them are plastic case (except the irony series) and looking very sporty, this one has both sporty and classic look with the gold tone case and leather strap. good watch for fun. an old saying- sometimes, less is more =]
  21. i just purchased a 1992 swatch C.E.O on the bay. yeah i know, its not even automatic- and not a rep of a $100,000 watch, but i think its nice. i like this model since its simple, yet classic looking in compare to the usual "swatch" style. its quartz, has date, and some sort of "moonphase style" day/night indicator at 12 its also pretty rare too(lol ), in compare to the casual plastic swatches floating on the bay on a daily basis . here's a photo:
  22. Hey, i was thinking of the old accutron watches, these who had the vintage pre-quartz tuning fork movmenets (older than quartz, yet much cooler ) which allowed the seconds to sweep damn smooth, yet being battery powered. how these watches are like? did anyone owned one? how accurate and reliable are these movements? looks like complicated electrical movement (sort of a hybrid mechanical and electric mechanism?)
  23. oyster quartz sweeps and dont tick, saw one on youtube and couldn't tell that its not spring driven =] i would be in for one if somebody can find a source for a decent oyster quartz rlx rep
  24. tgchrono2: this is cool! how does the watch feels on the wrist ? how smooth is the sweep? does the watch has a solid build like the solid look it has ? I like the "older" model better than the new one =]
